Petra is a historical and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma’an that is known for its rock cut architecture and water conduits system. Established sometime around the 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans, it is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourism attraction. It lies on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Petra has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

Program
- Your guide will contact you and meet you at the designated meeting point.
- we pick up you from your hotel at 3:00 am by ac bus Mercedes 600 cc take 2:30 hours to arrive to Nuweiba marine.
- It’s important to stick to the time your guide specifies.
- After take our ferry boat for 1:30 hours to arriver to city Petra and meet our Jorden guide speaker English very well and explain everything about trip.
Colored canyon
- We start the tour on foot, though the Canyon, a narrow, winding gorge over 1 kilometer in length. Beautiful sandstone formations of Petra were once occupied by the Edomites.
- One of the reasons why Petra was such an attractive site for the Nabataea’s is its virtual hiddenness behind a narrow and easily defensible canyon known as the Siq.
Al khazneh or great treasure of the pharaoh
- As you come to the end of this beautiful ravine, a very narrow opening offers a peephole to one of the most spectacular sites in Petra – the treasury.
- Carved out of the side of the sandstone mountain face probably in the first century BC, scholar’s debate as to its actual function.
The roman theater & the royal tombs
- After the visit to the treasury we will visit the Roman Theater which dates back to Byzantine era & the Royal tombs. Not a lot is known about the ancient culture of the Nabataea’s, except that they were excellent engineers with amazing skill and craft.
- They built water conservation and irrigation systems and carved their homes, temples and tombs right out of the rocks.
Lunch
- Have lunch at restaurant in the city center.
Back to back to hotel
- We will drive back to Aqaba at 6.45 pm where you will have one hour free time for shopping.
- Then take your boat back to Nuweiba Marine then back to Dahab by bus arriving after midnight and you will be transferred back to your hotel.
